To say this book was interesting would be an understatement. As someone who has always been drawn to anything to do with psychology/psychiatry, I was IN the moment I read the synopsis for this book. The way it was written hooked me instantly and kept me NEEDING to know more.

The Patient is written like a series of blog posts by a doctor named Parker. He is posting his account of treating an “incurable” patient named Joe while getting his start as a psychiatrist at a mental hospital in New England. And it is thrilling to say the least. Crazy and inexplicable things keep happening to the people who attempt to treat and care for Joe, and Parker is determined to get to the bottom of his seemingly undiagnosable mental illness. Each “post” seems a little more ominous and it was SO hard to put this book down and do things in the real world. While I was not reading this book, I was thinking about the story and its characters. The last couple of chapters really had me scratching my head, and I could never have guessed what was really happening. In the end, Parker uncovered something way darker than he could have imagined and it was downright CREEPY.

I am giving this book a rating of 4.5 stars, and I can’t wait to see what this author graces us with next!
