Parker is a newly graduated psychiatrist from a renowned medical school. He arrives to his first day at the Connecticut State Asylum weary of the patients that come into the public mental health system. We learn that Parker's mom had schizophrenia before she died, and is what ultimately led Parker into his role of a psychiatrist, and wanting to help people like her.
Parker learns of a patient in the hospital named Joe. Joe was first admitted when he was 6 for night terrors, but has since never left and seemed to lead anyone who enters his room to insanity, and some even to death or suicide. Parker, as a young psychiatrist immediately volunteers to be Joe's doctor and ultimately diagnose him. Will parker survive or be driven to insanity too?
