The author definitely sets the stage with the opening descriptions of the state hospital- the large campus with abandoned building, the large brick hospital, and New England weather. Opening pages, of course make me want to read the book after hearing of a patient who had spent most of his life in the hospital, has no diagnosis, and no one wants to interact with him. Then enters the new idealistic doctor who seems determined to cure him- sets the stage for a great read!
