I can already tell (just from this short first impression) that I am going to love this book. There is something about mental disorders (and mental hospitals) that has always fascinated and intrigued me. As someone who went to school for psychology, I'm completely drawn into this story and want to learn what "Joe's" diagnosis will be. I'm confounded by the fact that his mental disorder mutates and changes as time passes - but rather than slowly, it changes rapidly. I've never heard of anything like it.
I'm also interested to see what types of therapy Parker tries to employ and how it will impact his life (and those of the other medical staff, including Nessie). I want to know more of Joe's backstory - what caused him to act out at such a young age, what happened in the 20 years since, and if there is a solution or a cure for whatever mental disorder he is struggling with.
