The Passing Playbook is a special book that treat an important nowadays topic: LGBTQ+ discrimination.
The story follows the insecure fifteen years old trangender Spencer Harris, which transfers in a new school at Oakley (OHIO) to start a fresh new life far away from people that didn't accept his transition.
He is a nerd and a fantastic big brother for Theo, an autistic 8 years old little boy.
But the most important thing is that he LOVES Soccer and he wants so badly to join the boy team. Everything seems fine: more accepting classmates, a midfield position in boys' soccer team, great new friends, and a particular friendship with the religious (and maybe homophobic) Justice Cortes. The only problem is that no one knows that he is trans.
Everything changed when a discriminatory law forces Spencer's coach to bench him, Spencer has to make a choice: cheer his team on from the sidelines or publicly fight for his right to play, even though it would mean coming out to everyone—including the guy he's falling for.

A fantastic book that is a mixture of Bend It Like Beckham, Love Simon and some vibes from the Film She's The Man.
Sports and Discrimination in the same book and a character that fights for his rights.
