This book is off to an interesting start. Spencer is transgender and is starting at a new private school after being bullied and threatened at his old school. His family is super supportive. Because of the experiences at his old school, Spencer isn't ready to come out at his new school. In the first look, he begins navigating the territory of making friends while holding back his secret. I think this is going to be a compelling read. The characters are warm and very likable and I'm invested in Spencer's future after only a few chapters. I'm interested to see how the topic of transgender kids is sports is navigated, as this is such a hot button issue right at the moment.
