Laura Acampora's novel, The Paper Wasp, has a premise that sounds fascinating (and the title and cover seem promising) but it didn't take me long to realize that this book wasn't for me. Lonely, obsessive Abby is thrilled to reconnect with her childhood friend, Elise, who is now a rising Hollywood star.

I didn't finish this book because Abby annoyed me pretty much from the very beginning. I don't think the reader is supposed to like Abby, but she made it impossible for me to get into the story.

Another reason why The Paper Wasp wasn't for me is the occasional graphic scene. There are a few sentences I could really have done without.

I think I went into this book expecting All About Eve, and this is not that story.
