I looked forward to reading this based on the excerpt posted here on BookishFirst.com.

Abby is a complex, deeply troubled woman. She is completely consumed by two things: emulating her idol an artistic filmmaker and obsessing over her childhood friend who is now a movie star.

Abby believes that she is destined for greatness in the school of her idol, and the only way she can achieve this is by using her friend that she has ingratiated herself to. She goes to elaborate lengths to get what she wants.

The story itself isn't badly written, though it lacks something in the telling. Abby is clearly a sick individual but she achieves her dreams by doing the unimaginable, stealing a child and claiming it as her own. Ms. Acampora is excellent at character development, Elise is as vacuous as Abby is deep. Abby enacts her revenge and as Elise is left reeling, Abby finds happiness.

3 out of 5 stars.
