The imagery in the beginning of this book is stunning. Honestly, this is some of the most descriptive prose I have ever read! Not only does it seem that the characters were once friends, but there is a hint of something more, which makes the reader question whether the narrator is in love or insane when it comes to Elise.
While this book's description reads almost as a coming-of-age book, I'd venture to say that it is far more suspenseful. Just in the first few pages, the book makes the reader feel like they're on a precipice. I'm not sure I would love this book, but the first few pages definitely left me with questions that I now feel I need answered! Come for the resurgence of an old friendship, stay for the suspense.
