Thrilling read, but ending executed poorly

I was really looking forward to this, especially with the creepy atmosphere and setup from the very beginning. The characters weren't overly unrealistic, though a little bit dramatized. It did seem a little longer than other suspense/thriller reads, maybe because nothing much was happening. It's a little sad that it did not exactly live up to expectations, but I honestly don't really know else to end it. Ultimately, it just didn't have that je ne sais quois.

The twist was good, but how it ties to everything that happened was a little bit lacking. It felt more like the author didn't decide until the end what the twist was going to be, just thought of something that vaguely ties things together but not enough to be satisfyingly clever.
