First of all, thank you to Minotaur Books for the advanced reading copy! Emily has met the man of her dreams, Adam, and everything is perfect until she meets his mother. Pammie is the soon to be mother-in-law (not if Pammie has any say) of Emily. At first Emily notices subtle little nuances that suggest that Pammie doesn't like her, but as the novel unfolds it seems as if Pammie will stop at nothing to keep Emily away from her favorite son Adam. Meanwhile, when Emily meets Adam's brother James, she starts to question herself. She is undeniably drawn to James, even though she is in love with Adam. How can these two brothers be so different? Why doesn't Pammie like her? The ending was definitely not what I expected and was a shocker!
The plot of this book moved along quickly, but I thought almost too quickly. I felt as if many of the scenes just scratched the surface of what they could have been. Some of the results of Pammie's actions were glanced over and left me with unanswered questions in my head. I also thought that the character's could have been developed more, but if the scenes were explained in more depth, this might have in turn contributed to character development.
All in all, this book was a quick easy read that I really couldn't put down. If you like endings that aren't what you expect, then this one is for you!
