I found this book rewarding because, well, who doesn’t enjoy a story about the evil mother-in-law however stereotyped it may be. This book was even engaging enough for me to forgive the author the use of some of my personally disliked terms such as munch, chuckle, and grimace. The thought that repeated in my head as I read this novel was, I think, a valid one and that is, “How do we decide what relationships are worth fighting for in our lives?” Without a doubt many are worth fighting for but some are not and the wisdom to read the signs along the way can be clouded. This author’s debut will undoubtedly enjoy a widespread readership over an audience looking for a little escapism into the fraught world of relationship.
