I tried. I love thrillers, but I've gotten to the point where I'm over the whole idea of a twist for the sake of just having one. Ever since Gone, Girl (which I adore), there a lot of these women centric thrillers that just don't seem to go anywhere.

In order for this whole story to work, the main character, Emily has to be whiny and spineless. While, no, I do not expect all heroines to perfect, it just got to be too much. The twist was bizarre and didn't make sense. The entire novel could have been avoided from the beginning, but for the sake of having a shocking and unseeable twist ... it exists. It's not badly written and I do think I will give this author another try, I just think the mark was missed with this particular story.
