It is so ironic to me that when I read this book a few years ago, it was given to me by my boyfriends mother early on as we started dating. We both loved reading and she thought I would like this one. JOKES ON ME when I find out it's about a crazy mother in law. Ironic I think honestly.
Due to how I received book, I spent the majority of my time reading it with COMPLETE anxiety. What if this is gonna be like my mother in law? She's psycho in this book and I do NOT need that in my life. But in reality, I think that is what the author wanted me to feel. She didn't want me to be sitting reading this and thinking it was no big deal. She wanted me to FEEL the horror and anxiety about potential mother-in-laws! Man, did it work.
The ending though I did not see coming and it explained so much but it still didn't make up for the original horror I felt while reading the rest of the book. Overall, I still don't know if my boyfriends mother wanted me to be spooked, or she was telling me something else....you'll have to read it to see the ending and find out what she may have been telling me.
