To begin, thank you to the publisher and the author for the copy of "The Other Merlin" this review is based on. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet Emry, the daughter of the Great Wizard, Merlin. I really enjoyed her character and the spirit she possessed; intelligent, kind, and a great wizard in her own right. When her twin brother, Emmett, is called to become an apprentice wizard at the castle and can't go, she goes in his place. I enjoyed the twin switch storyline, but it took up too much of a majority of the book for me.

I did enjoy the interactions between Emry, Arthur, and Lance as their friendship grew and they became closer. The overall themes of friendship and loyalty were prominent throughout the book.

The cover of the book initially drew me to reading this story. Would definitely recommend to readers who love YA. Interested to see what the next book in the series is like!
