This is the type of book I’m especially grateful to BookishFirst for turning me on to. I wouldn’t have found this one myself because it’s not a genre I’d be likely to check out. I think you’d call this fantasy. I read the excerpt and I was immediately sold.
In this story, there are two Merlins. Emry and Emmett Merlin are twins, they’re around 18 and they’re both wizards. But Emry is a girl and society doesn’t easily accept a girl wizard, her own father didn’t even want to train her. But Emry is a way better than her brother. Emmett is offered a position as the wizard for Arthur, the young future king. But Emmett messes up and Emry has to go to the castle in his place. She pretends to be Emmett. She was never expecting the complication of falling for Arthur.
Not only does Arthur think Emry is Emmett, but he’s spent his entire life trying to make his dad happy. Nothing ever seems good enough.
Their path to happiness seems like a rocky one.
I absolutely loved the characters and the story, I’m so excited that this will be a series.
