I'm immediately drawn in to the story as you meet Arthur, the bastard prince of Camelot who just wants to live a normal live and have a drink with his friend. Attempting to get his friend out of trouble, he is challenge by a knight who was unable to pull out the sword. Much to his dismay, Arthur pulls it out easily and from then on is recognized as the rightful heir, despite being told his whole life that he was not worthy. One the other side, you have Merlin, the daughter no one wanted to teacher who quickly surpassed her brother at magic, though will never be recognized for her achievements because she is a girl. However, when her brother is summoned to court but is unable to go, Emry Merlin now has to cover for her brother until he can take his place. I am excited to read on to find out just how well Arthur and Emry survive their new trials as they come of age, mature, and get to know each other, while trying not to screw up royally.
