I mean, can I just say what a book to read now??? In the midst of a literal pandemic, I almost didn't want to read this book, but at the same time, I have a soft spot for historical fiction!
Set during the Spanish Influenza of 1918, the Orphan Collector follows young Pia, a German immigrant. When her father is forced to enlist in the U.S. Army, Pia is left to look after her two infant brothers, but with no food at home, Pia must venture out of her home and leave her brothers there. When her neighbor, Bernice, sees Pia leave, she takes the two infants. Lost in grief from losing her own son, she takes the chance.
A beautifully written Historical Fiction, I really cannot recommend this enough!
