This book was so timely, being written about a very difficult struggle during a world pandemic in 1918, so it was perfect to read in 2020 while we are dealing with another world pandemic. This was a touching tale of love, loss, and perseverance. I loved the characters, the depth and the pacing of the story, and who wouldn’t love this beautiful cover.
I am a huge fan of this author, and I have several of her other books and I cannot wait to read them. I love historical fiction and I love her books. Wiseman’s writing is superb, and her descriptions of life during the Spanish Flu epidemic are chilling. Well-researched and impossible to put down, this is an emotional tug-of-war played out brilliantly on the pages and in readers’ hearts.
