The story is so authentic to the time it is set in. I really felt like I was there with the characters, in Philly. The author clearly did their research on the Spanish flu pandemic, World War I, and the feelings of foreigners and non-whites at that time. This book feels so relevant to the times we are living in now too, considering the current pandemic raging across the globe. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this book after reading the first look. I loved the characters, the setting, the story, the writing. I nearly cried a few times. This book is absolutely going on my TBR list.
