I loved the cover of this novel. It gave us the main character right away without having to wonder who she is and what is happening to her. Immediately the reader knows there is going to be something unhappy going to happen to her. Ellen Marie Wiseman once again takes a historical event that reader's are familiar with and brings a human element to what would normally just be a page or two in a history book. I absolutely love that right away when you start the book you are taken into the world of the 1910's with the journal-like entry at the beginning. This book has relevance to the situation going on right now in our society. Ms. Wiseman's book shows the reader how major world events affect the average everyday person. Can't wait to read more and see what happens Pia and her family.
