Initially, I was surprised by the young age of the main character, Pia, but I found her likable and relatable. My heart broke for her when her mother dies, and when the book switches to Bernice's perspective, things start to get more intriguing and perhaps even darker. I'm really curious about what Bernice is going to do. The cover does not particularly appeal to me.
