This book is reminiscent of the current times of the panademic we are facing today. But with a setting back in 1918 with the Spanish flu a young girl and her twin little brothers lose their mother leaving Pia responsible to take care of herself and her brothers. Poor, with no one to turn to, she leaves the boys briefly to get supplies but upon return finds them gone and when things couldn’t get worse, the unimaginable happens.
