If you’ve never read anything by Stephen Graham Jones (SGJ), buckle up and open your mind, because this is a great ride. The writing is excellent and SGJ knows how to ratchet up the tension, suspense, and terror, in masterful ways.

This story of four friends from the Blackfeet reservation is a great analysis of what happens when you not only don’t respect your past, but try to run from it. Everyone pays in the end, and this novel tells that tale in a way that only SGJ can.

One of the great things about the writing, not only in this book, but I’m also thinking of his novel “The Least of My Scars,” is how inside the characters you get. You feel like the thoughts of each character are living inside your brain. This can be terrifying/disturbing, etc., but for a horror writer at the top of his game, that’s what we should expect.
