This book was incredible. Probably the single most scary book I've ever read. The characters were really complex and fleshed out, and I was really interested in their stories. I loved how it subverted a lot of typical horror tropes, such as the final girl trope. The way everything came together at the end was really interesting and well written. The female protagonist was really likeable and headstrong. My only criticism was the amount of unnecessary animal cruelty. It made me kind of uncomfortable. I don't think the author needed to go into that much detail on the death of animals. Nevertheless, overall, this was one of the best horror books I've ever read, and one of the best books I read in 2021. I would definitely recommend this book for fans of Stephen King's It and any other Stephen Graham Jones' books. Go read this book right now!
