Not for me
I am having such a hard time finding books with indigenous characters to enjoy. This one sounded amazing and that cover really captured my attention. I'm not much on horror but this sounded doable. I chose to listen to the audiobook and while the narration was good I just could not get invested in the story. From the beginning it was all very white folk vs indigenous and I'm really not looking for more of this kind of content. I want to read about indigenous characters thriving in life or learning about their cultures not more race war novels. The setting was familiar as someone who grew up in the north and the oil fields. I was intrigued by the premise of the story but I sadly had to DNF at the half way point. I'm sure it is an amazing book for the right audience but i should have known it being a horror that it wouldn't strike a cord with me. My search for more indigenous character driven books continues.
