maybe i'm dumb, but...
I first saw this on GoodReads and, in all honestly, was intrigued by the cover. I know you aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but this is a cover you can't just look at and not have an opinion.
Anyway, reading the prologue leaves you a jumbled mess. I don't know if it's the writing style (which is somehow both choppy and comprised of run-ons) or if its the fact that the actual prologue gets cut off before it concludes, but the reading experience was definitely one-of-a-kind. It's creepy, albeit in a way that I haven't seen before, and in a way I cannot explain. I can't tell if its stylistic that its devoid of the typical horror-genre atmosphere or if I'm just that dumb, but the fact that it's already pretty different has got me hooked.
That, and the fact that someone has died in such a way already.
Also, the cover. The cover's awesome.
