I'll be perfectly honest. I did not finish this book. I got about half way in a week and decided that it is simply not for me. Normally I do not write reviews of books that I do not finish. However, I felt this might be an appropriate one to do.

The dog dies. Normally, though it does break my heart, I can continue reading when animals (even dogs) die. Yet in this book, that was the last straw for me. Leading up to the dog's violent death, I was already feeling the need to put it down. There is a few cases of violence against animals in this book. Though I wouldn't go as far as to say it was the most animal violence I've seen in a book, personally it seemed like just a bit too much for the current state of affairs. I just couldn't deal with it and the real world at the same time. Maybe I'll revisit it in the distant future.
