Where do I start. This was a horror novel like none I've ever read before nor do I believe I'll ever have the privilege of reading again. Almost every moment of this book you are feeling something STRONGLY and amazingly mostly what I felt was a back and forth between fear and love. There were moments of regret and moments of utter sadness, but I somehow came out of this definite horror novel feeling free but also a sense of overwhelming love. Love and respect for nature, the love of a mother for her child and the lengths a mother will go to avenge the death of their child (both human and animal). Ultimately this was such a unique, beautifully written, perfectly paced horror novel that I would recommend to anyone (whether you're into horror or not, I do feel this book extends beyond just the horror genre). Well done Stephan Graham Jones, one of my favorite reads of 2020!
