I was initially confused when I started to read this prologue since I felt the narrator hopped between stories. It felt very sporadic and I was getting a bit lunch jumping between the bar and Cheeto and past stories. But eventually I saw that what he was doing was really getting you inside this guys head and I started to feel what the guy was feeling when he saw that crazy deer in the parking lot and those guys were chasing him. I suddenly started to get anxious about what was happening and then I knew....I was hooked and I am kicking myself for not having a copy already of this book. I have heard so many good things from horror lovers and from Native American voices about how amazing this book is and I cannot wait to get a copy for myself. I will say, for the publishers credit, the cover is what made me click on this book in the first place. That deer is spooky and I am from the middle of no where Maine where people hunt deer a lot so this whole idea for the book is creeping me out and I need to read more.
