I found myself so scarily engrossed in this novel! I almost wish I had read this with a friend! I don't normally tend toward horror books, but this one has definitely left me wanting to read more horror novels.
The author did an amazingly detailed job of really setting the scene and creating the feeling of tension, unease, and terror in the reader. Though the story tended to be graphic at times, I didn't mind as it felt like it was needed for the storyline (or, alternately, wasn't overkill or NOT needed for the storyline).
I was also pleasantly surprised I found myself enjoying the characters being different than maybe what would be your "typical" character. The fact that the main characters were Native American just added to the appeal of the storyline for me.
I'm 100% definitely recommending this to anyone looking for a good horror novel!
