Loved this book! The storyline, the imagery, the characters, everything about it.

An event from the past comes back to haunt four friends.

This was so creepy, and did an excellent job at creating that sense of unease and tension building throughout the book. I also really liked the way the different characters reacted to the event and how that impacted their outcome, so to speak. It's extremely graphic at times, and these scenes are scattered throughout the book, so you can never rest truly easy while reading it.

I also really enjoyed the depiction of indigenous life. You see life on the reservation, and balancing the modern with the ritual, but you also see how life is for those who have left the reservation, and the continued struggles and racism they face. I've seen a number of reviews from own voice reviewers, who have appreciated this, so that helps these scenes to ring true.

Highly recommend, if you can handle the gore of horror!
