They want an Indian bad enough tonight to run out into the open prairie in November, or’s it enough just to run him off?

I had a hard time following the action, the writing is a bit... fuzzy? I just couldn't get a clear enough picture of what was happening to tell what was going on and had to re-read several times. The plot and premise seem interesting, but I didn't follow enough.
