This is a story of two sisters. Cee is outgoing and lovable. Kay is an introverted genius. However, they've been separated, and all Cee can think about, after she ended up on a deserted island three years ago, is getting back to Kay. Meanwhile, Kay is living in a city built above a toxic Earth plagued by earthquakes and tsunamis. Even the sea, which Cee was constantly drawn to before she disappeared, is poisoned. I had to think about this book a bit before I wrote my review. For a while I couldn't decide what I thought about it, and that bothered me. In truth, I couldn't put it down, but Kay's chapters were heavy with terminology unfamiliar to me and difficult to get through. Yet, as soon as I turned the page to a Cee chapter, I had to keep going. Like the character pulled in those around her, I was also pulled into Cee's story and rooting for her the entire time. Without spoiling it, I will say the ending, where things were left up in the air was such a let down. I need all my questions answered, and if not, I need a sequel to answer them. I was disappointed to experience that emotional roller coaster only to not how things end. One final thing, this is one of the most beautiful book covers I've ever seen, and I was initially drawn to the book for that reason.
