I was intrigued by Joan He’s new work. I love sci-fi and Young Adult Books in that genre are too rare these days. Joan’s work is lyrical and literary, while still having a strong commercial bend. Readers will relate to the futuristic world ravaged by climate change, and sympathize with the characters trying to make the most of of their situations. The unique style of telling this story is gripping and will keep readers guessing until the end. I am very extremely excited by this new direction for YA as a whole and am glad this book exists for readers. Additionally, the cover is gorgeous. I think there’s a lot of details I want to leave unspoiled but there are interesting twists in the book that make it extra appealing, and compelling. I saw one of them coming, but not the other. Finally, this book has a great depiction of sisters, and the lengths they go because they love each other.
