The opening of this book is almost like a scene from Castaway, but high tech and all around screwy. It’s clear the narrator of the first chapter may not be reliable. She repeats and defines and generally appears traumatized. The second chapter has a shift in perspective and location. Although the world is unfamiliar, I wasn’t lost when the story started right in. The characters are clearly in a chat and I’m intrigued that the one covered for the other when the guy came up. I’m also really curious about the guy. While the story appears to clearly be about the sisters attempting to reunite, I hope there is a bit of romance and even a cool found family type situation. It has a very sci-fi feel but still mixed with the natural world—which isn’t always the case with sci fi (lots of space ships!). I’m really excited for this one to come out!
