The concept sounds like a pretty good one, though I'm not much into dystopian books, particularly since the pandemic. That is nothing against this book, it just is my own preference.
This does seem to have a darker tone for a children's book. It isn't something I would want to have read as a child nor would I feel comfortable letting my children read until they're about 14 years old.
The cover seems a bit amateurish for a major publisher.
I'm sure fans of this genre will more than likely love this book, or those who enjoyed the author's first book.
