Disorienting beginnings
The Ones We're Meant to Find probably deserves an award for the best cover art of 2021. The painting is honestly breathtaking. I find the contents of the story though to be rather confusing. We're introduced to Cee, who has sleepwalked to the beach and suddenly finds herself awake and standing in the ocean. Like Cee, I felt very disoriented as a reader. This may be a stylistic choice on part of the author to mimic the emotions of the protagonist, but I found the story and plot to be very nebulous, at least within the first couple of chapters.
