As a major fan of Joan He's debut Descendant of the Crane, I've been anxiously awaiting this book and based on the excerpt I won't be disappointed!
I adore books centered on sibling love and relationships, and I already adore Kay and Cee - I need to know what happened to tear them apart and if they will be okay. Must protect Cee.
The worldbuilding is doled out slowed, which is nice to not be bombarded by infodumps, but some non-scifi readers may struggle with the way the technology of the world is explained. I can't wait to read the full book!
