The Nine showcases some of the toughest and bravest women in history. This true account of nine women in WWII escaping the concentration camps, enduring torture, and still finding a way to press on and be as optimistic and brave as possible is astounding. While this is a non-fiction book, most of it reads as a novel which makes it easier to follow (though the content is heavy) and faster to read. I enjoyed the way the author wrote and explained everything these women went through, as much as one can say that about something as horrible as WWII. (There are some descriptions of torture and sexual abuse that some may need to consider before reading. They could be triggers.)

This book is full of first-hand accounts and facts that I was unaware of before reading this. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is fascinated by WWII history and the brave people who had to experience these atrocities first hand. Very well written and easy to follow for a non-fiction book.
