Going into this book, I knew that it would be a difficult read but I had a great experience overall. The courage that these women had was so admirable and it kept me reading. The fact that it is nonfiction is mind blowing because of all the difficult struggles that these women had to face. These women showed so much resilience and motivation that had me at awe for the entire story. The story kept me interested all the way through and I really enjoyed the structure of the story. The Nine tells the story of Hélène, Zaza, Nicole, Lon, Guigui, Zinka, Josée, Jacky, and Mena as they fought to survive. All these nine women have amazing qualities and showed so much strength through their story. Everything that these women went through was heartbreaking and difficult to read but overall so important. Stories that surround World War II have been pretty hit or miss and I really enjoyed this one.
