Where to even begin?! This historical account of 9 women who stuck together to escape will forever be engraved in my brain. I learned more in this book than I ever thought I would.

This is a haunting, but riveting book that kept me wanting to know more the entire time. I love that the author broke down each chapter to focus on one of the nine women's stories. Each background story was told with such grace. These women were strong and are some unsung heroes of the time.

You always hear about the famous people within WWII and the Holocaust (e.g. Himmler, Hitler, Anne Frank), but this was refreshing account/story of those who lived in the other side of the Holocaust...the war criminals, the revolution, political prisoners, and machinery. You also see that not everyone working for the Holocaust cause were evil...some did it out of fear for their families.

Arguably, one of the best books I've ever read.
