Upon the first look, I knew - I just knew! - that I would love this book. And, yes. I did. As a general rule, I stay away from contemporary, stick to fantasy/science fiction, and dabble in historical fiction. This book was the perfect historical fiction novel. It did not lack in adventure, my heart was racing as the story progressed. The setting? Beautiful. The writing? Equally as so. Hui's adventure throughout Egypt was the perfect summer read so I could escape from the gruelling heat and overworked mind. Not an author I have read before, but after reading The New Kingdom, Wilbur Smith will most definitely be a name I will not soon forget. The mythology was fascinating and as I finished, I found myself eager to know more about historical Egypt and North Africa. Action-packed, full of heart and intense adventure, this is a book to put on your shelf!
