At first glance, I would have told you that this is not the novel for me. Digging a little deeper though, I found that I was intrigued by the setting in Egypt and the magic elements that were involved as well.
The character names are difficult for me to wrap my head around, but I'm sure that was to keep in favor of Egyptian culture. The writing style reminds me a bit of R.A. Salvatore in that it's very simple, but full of descriptive phrases and very character focused.
While I don't think this will be a novel I will pick up, I did enjoy exploring it and trying something new.
