The writing is nice and I like a good historical, but something just didn’t connect with me in this. I haven’t read the books this is supposed to parallel, so I wouldn’t be interested in picking the series up here. I’m also skeptical of books “coauthored” by writers where one is a long-standing author, a la James Patterson. I’m just going to assume that Smith isn’t for me, because I’ve yet to have much interest in the works featured on this site.
