Decent Plot but Didn't Love the Writing
This was a bit of a tough read for me, which is odd given that this is typically a genre I really enjoy and read regularly. A modern espionage story that tries to include aspects of Russian disinformation and cyber warfare has the potential to be really good, but I feel this one does not live up to the standards of John LeCarre's new novels which have similar themes. It does seem that this particular book was hampered by having initially been intended to be part of the Bourne series. The violence in the book often feels gratuitous in the sense that it often fails to serve a purpose in the narrative. While the plot was generally engaging, I found a lot of the dialogue and narration cheesy and often unrealistic. I got the impression that The Nemesis Manifesto would make a decent action TV show, but that just did not translate to a good book.
