I won an ARC of this book from BookishFirst. I wanted to give this 4.5 stars, but rounded down to 4 stars. Southern Gothic at its best, and I think may be my new favorite genre! I was hooked from the first page to the last. The characters (and their names) are unique - Tallulah and Griff are among my favorites - and lure you in to want to learn more about them and the story of their lives. Mental illness, civil rights and the dysfunctional family are the main threads in this marvelous book. I loved how the book went back and forth in time during the 60s and 70s, weaving the story together in a most perfect way. I highly recommend this for everyone - in fact, I already have recommended to friends and family. I can't wait to read more from Susan Crandall.
