There was much to like with this book, just as there was in the author’s previous title Whistling Past the Graveyard. Great character study of four siblings who have all become distanced from each other. When one of them finds themselves on the wrong side of the law, it’s the actions and reactions of the others that pull the story along. Alternating between the present and the past, we find out what makes these siblings flawed is an emotional upbringing with a tuned out mother and a father struggling with mental illness. While I found myself pulling for the characters, I appreciated that the author did not make a sugar coated ending, but a more realistic one. Very well written, with great southern charm thrown in. I could have done without the obligatory romance, but other than that, this was a good read for me.
