I was attracted to this book because of the plot description. This is a topic that I have not read much about since elementary school! One can certainly identify with Mary Elizabeth's trepidation at leaving all she knows and heading to a new life and country. By the end of the excerpt, the author has laid some tantalizing groundwork for a bit of treachery by Peter, who feels overlooked and cheated of a job in the new world, which would have helped alleviate his debt. William, beware! Dorothy is a treat and seems quite the unusual girl for the age. I look forward to reading the full book to see how all goes once they land in the new world. From the initial problems with water coming onboard to the journey itself, I'm sure it will be an interesting read!
