I received an extended, sneak preview of The Mayflower Bride and found it "okay" in storyline.

I always get a little nervous when a book opens with page after page of word definitions and character charts. However, I just skimmed over the first few pages and was still able to sufficiently follow what was going on in the story without any issues.

This book is a historical fiction story that primarily focuses on Mary Elizabeth and William. The first several chapters deals primarily with set up, but the plot starts to thicken quite a bit into the 4th chapter or so when it appears that not all will be smooth sailing on the trip.

The writing style gravitates toward a more proper style and I do not love the absence of true chapters, but all in all, I think this will be a good book to read for anyone with an interest in historical fiction.

The book is christian fiction and does incorporate some scripture into the text, but I do not feel like it was overly "preachy" and I think this book could still appeal to multiple audiences.
